Here are three ways we deal with the issue in our SEO practice: Make a post on a high volume forum with a link to your site in your signature.  Bonus for an on-topic link and using a relevent keyword as the anchor text (the underlined text in the link). Submit your site on Digg and StumbleUpon. Write a release and submit it to PRWeb.com and one or two other online press release sites. Wait 6-24 hours, and you'll find in your website statistics that Googlebot has been through your site.
